WHAT IS SHRIEKFEST?

Shriekfest is an international festival and screenplay competition dedicated to getting horror/thriller/sci-fi/fantasy filmmakers and screenwriters the recognition they deserve. What makes our festival unique is that we proactively help the filmmakers and screenwriters by promoting their work to the industry.

We are dedicated to celebrating the art of independent filmmaking without all of the politics!

What:   The 8th Annual Shriekfest Film Festival
     
When:   October 2 - October 5 2008
     
Where:   Raleigh Studios (the longest continuously operating studio in the country) The screenings take place in the beautiful Chaplin Theatre which seats 171 people. The Chaplin Theatre also has Dolby surround sound capabilities. Located at 5300 Melrose in Hollywood, CA (From the 101 freeway, take the Gower exit South to Melrose, go Left and the studios will be on the right across from Paramount Studios) there is plenty of street parking and a paid parking structure.

Shriekfest, the Los Angeles International Horror/Thriller/Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film Festival & Screenplay Competition, and Pretty/Scary, the organization and website that encourages women in the horror genre, have joined forces for the 2nd year in a row to celebrate the 8th annual Shriekfest celebrate the 8th annual Shriekfest Film Festival. Pretty/Scary will sponsor an award for the film that best symbolizes innovative, interesting, provocative, and groundbreaking representations of women in the horror, sci-fi, or fantasy genres. Pretty Scary's editor, Heidi Martinuzzi, will be on Shriekfest's judging panel this year.
